Hi, I’m Ashley and I’m glad you’re here.
I am a labor, delivery, postpartum nurse and an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I started my career in healthcare at the age of 19 as a CNA at my local critical access hospital. After going to nursing school, getting married, and having our first child; I realized I was enamored by all things labor, birth, and breastfeeding. I pursued my passion and in 2016 began working on the labor, delivery, postpartum unit in Dodge City, KS - a 50 mile drive from my home. I still do weekly lactation visits and a few floor shifts at the hospital, but I have felt a calling to offer home and virtual visits, especially for those living in small rural communities.
Living very rurally, I intimately understand how difficult it can be to get out of the house and drive quite a distance with your child(ren) for multiple appointments. My heart is to take away the burden of traveling for a specialty visit. Let me come to you!
I chose the name Sunflower and Sage Lactation because this Kansas girl married an Oklahoma guy and we live juust a few miles north of the Oklahoma/Kansas line. I provide services for both states and I wanted a name that encompassed each state without sounding boring. The sunflower is the state flower of Kansas. Sage comes from the multitude of sand sage in the NW Oklahoma landscape. Admittedly, the name is a bit long, but I love the meaning behind name.
When I am not working, I am enjoying this one wonderfully, chaotic life with my husband and our four (phew!) children.
